Balancing on that very fine line
Saturday, May 17th, 2008So we took some time to find some peace - and that we did!
And with a bit of balance back in our lives, we are finding more of that peace around us. Not ‘peace’ in the sense that things are quiet and calm, but ‘peace’ in the sense that a person can deal with life’s ups and downs from a place of being more settled and feeling more at ease.
Finding balance is not an easy task. When we first took some time (about a month ago) to really focus on our family and some of the other issues in our lives, we thought that giving ‘time’ would be the way to bring some peace and balance. But as we spent the ‘time’ on the things we needed to, we realised that so much more than this was needed.
So we went about looking for what would really give us peace and balance - only to discover that instead of searching, we really just needed to be. We needed to put our minds and our hearts in the here and now, in everything we faced in our normal day. We needed to focus on being present.
And over the past few weeks we have also focussed on gratitude in a big way. We have always believed that being thankful and grateful can have an incredible impact on a person’s life, but to really concentrate on finding something to be grateful for in those moments of pure frustration and anger… if you can find something… now that can bring a real sense of balance (tricky, but definitely worth a try).
We’ve discovered that balancing on that fine line of ‘peace’ can be tricky, but if you can hold yourself up there even for just a moment… if you can just grab a glimpse once in a while… well, it’s worth it!
