Yes, it’s Jack!
Yes, he’s playing Playstation… but that’s not unusual…
… there’s something more to it…
This is a BREAKTHROUGH moment!!!

Shoes! Shoes on, with socks and done up.
Actually he appears to be full dressed.
:: looks over at fully naked Heidi ::
Fully dressed is a major achievement.

Yes has to be the shoes! On the right feet and done up! Or school shoes on at the weekend?
What ever it is you are very excited!

Yes!! Shoes are on!!!
We bought them a couple of weeks ago (during a somewhat stressful shopping trip) and we had a practice at wearing them today.
I sat behind Jack whilst he was playing Playstation and pulled the socks on and then the shoes without complaint (he was very focussed at the time).
The shoes lasted about an hour, and the socks lasted about 3 hours.
Considering we can’t remember the last time we managed to get him to put socks on his feet… AND shoes (other than sandals for Kindergarten and school) we are really celebrating!
Tomorrow, and his first day back at school after the end of term break will be the test. We’ll be packing the sandals in his bag just in case!

Yes! Very good. The shoes are very nice looking. I find a good time to put shoes on is like you say, when they are focused on something else. Sometimes M will get very upset by the feel of her shoes if it is what she is focusing on at the time.
No luck with the shoe tying here yet.

Hello Elissa
Thanks so much for the comment on my blog and congratulations on the Shoe success, i know how much the “little” things mean to us parents…
Its funny, I do the same with Max, while he is distracted I try do the things that he’s not too keen on, such as dressing!

G will be 13 on Saturday and it took him forever as well. He actually STILL leaves the shoes tied and slips his feet in. It must be hard for him. Can’t wait to see some adventures at school with Stanley!
